Dear friends.....

I have decided to put the blog to bed. I am having too many problems with Blogger and my old, old camera. Except for a few of my loyal readers, the viewing stats are way down. After 10 years I guess my motley gang of chickens has lost their appeal. (Although I think they are still adorable)!

I just want to say "Thank You" for the kindness you have always shown to Hubby and myself. You have helped us get through some pretty darn tough times and we will be forever grateful to you.

We loved your comments and funny E-mails - oh, how they made us laugh! Thanks for sending them!

I am going to miss you all so much!

Just want to give a special thanks to John, The Feral Irishman. John encouraged me to start blogging - I'm so glad I took his advice - I've met hundreds of wonderful people and made a lot of friends thanks to him!

Again, dear readers, thank you for allowing us into your home and thank you for visiting with us!

I'm really, really going to miss you!

 Love,

Chickenmom, Hubby, Benji, Chipper, Reba, Dolly, Kitty-Kat and all the critters here in Coopville!

Friday Night Steam

Ohhhh - you're gonna enjoy this one!

Introducing the Sanderson Steam Cycle! Named "Jenny", this home built coal fired steam cycle was painstakingly crafted over the last 4 years to look like it could have been built in the 1920's. A traditional coal fired steam engine on 2 wheels! You've seen nothing like this before. This video was made possible due to the services of Baker House Studios.

Put a cork in it!

In 1960, David Latimer planted a sprout of spiderweed in a large glass bottle, added a quarter liter of water, and then closed the bottle. He opened the bottle 12 years later in 1972 to add some water and then closed it completely. The self-sufficient ecosystem has evolved over more than 60 years. The garden is a perfectly balanced and self-sufficient ecosystem. Bacteria in the compost eat dead plants and break down the oxygen released by the plants into carbon dioxide, which is necessary for photosynthesis. The bottle is actually a microcosm of the Earth.
